[Wagner hails Huddersfield’s fairytale promotion to Premier League] Wagner hails Huddersfield’s fairytale promotion to Premier League. Over the season I thought we could do a little bit more, I thought around Christmas when we’d played everyone we had a chance. What happened is an unbelievable story - a fairytale
We tried a lot of small details to bring this club forward - usually you need three or four years to do what we’ve done. I am so happy because when I arrived people said I had no experience, no experience of British football, no experience of players - I always had to fight against that. It’s proved experience is important but not everything. It’s heart and desire. We only wanted to play this season to our limits, and now we know where our limit is

[Wagner excited to meet former mentor Klopp in Premier League] I think I have a lot of calls to do to be fair. Maybe this is why I don’t like to get my head around it because I know how much work is in front of me. Of course I would like to have all of my players with me next season. If it is possible, we will see. I will speak with Jurgen for sure as well, not only about Danny but about what has happened. I will meet Jurgen on the sideline in the Premier League; it will be funny – when the game starts we are sometimes out of control – but we will see
He was an outstanding player before this season. Aaron is the heart of our game. He’s able to decelerate when necessary or accelerate the game if you need it. He’s so confident and calm on the ball. He’s developed his fighting attitude since he arrived, because he arrived as a number 10 and usually number 10s are not the best fighters. Since he’s played a bit deeper, he has a great fighting attitude. He is one of many outstanding players we had this season and we are very happy that he was with us. Maybe this is a further phone call I have to do

[Huddersfield break their transfer record to sign £10m Aaron Mooy from Manchester City on three-year deal] Everybody who has watched our team in our promotion season knows how huge it is to have Aaron back at the Club as we enter the Premier League for the first time. I’m sure our fans will be very happy to see him back!
As I said many times last season, Aaron was right at the heart of our team. When he played well, we usually played well – and won!
His performances for us understandably brought a lot of interest in him this summer, so it is a big statement that Aaron wants to return to us. I think he understands that playing so regularly for us at a good level improved his game too and now he has the chance to be a regular in the Premier League; something that is very exciting for every player

[Tom Ince makes Huddersfield switch] Everybody in England knows that Tom Ince has high quality; he has been one of the best players in the Sky Bet Championship for many years now. He scores goals, creates them for others and is always a threat when he’s on the pitch, so I’m very happy to welcome him to the club.
To have played over 250 games at just 25 years old is not normal; it’s great experience for a player who still has lots of space to improve. I have spoken to Tom and he has a massive desire to come to Huddersfield Town and play in the Premier League. He has had a taste of the division for two short spells and he is desperate to show everyone that he belongs in the top division. I think he can be a big player for us

[Premier League newcomers Huddersfield sign left-back on three-year deal] I’m excited to welcome Scott to Huddersfield Town. Our fans will have seen in our games against Fulham last season what a good player he is and I know his abilities will suit our style of play very well
Scott is a good physical presence and is a very capable defender, plus he adds a lot going forward. He shows good football intelligence to time his forward runs and can setup goals for teammates and scoring them himself.
We already have a very good left back in Chris Lowe and a real young talent in Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, but as we enter our first Premier League season it is so important to have competition and the ability to rotate our side, as we did so successfully last season

[David Wagner speaks after securing the club’s Premier League status after a 1-1 draw at Chelsea] They have 48 hours and what they say we’ll do so we’ll go back by coach. Beers? There will be more than one

[Wagner frustrated with sloppy Huddersfield] This is very frustrating. To make it clear I don’t think we deserved anything because you need your defence and offence to work. It was Christmas for Bournemouth because we gave away chances – presents – at both ends of the pitch, even if performance-wise it was a top-class away performance.
First goal was a referee decision again where I ask why was this a foul?
The most important thing is you have to know what to do better to get results. We have picked up some results but [in this game] it is easy – we can only blame ourselves for the first goal and goals change games.

[Huddersfield boss David Wagner ‘happy’ as Mounie ends nine-month goal drought] I’m happy that Steve scored. Everyone was waiting for the striker’s goal. Hopefully we can take this now and move forward. We have to accept this result. Everybody gave everything, and the commitment was there. This is what I expect, win lose or draw. We have to stick together and fight, and this is what the players have done; it’s this commitment what you need, and we need to put this result to bed

[Schalke announce former Huddersfield manager Wagner as new head coach] I know from my own best experience as a player the strength that Schalke 04 can develop when the team, club and fans pull together. To dive into this world again and help to change the current situation for the better – that is the biggest motivation for me to return to the Bundesliga

[Wagner, who is a close friend of a fellow German he worked alongside at Borussia Dortmund, is hoping to see more honours come Klopp’s way] Sometimes you need a little bit of luck to win a title, but he absolutely deserved this. He lives and breathes this job 100 per cent, he thinks about football or his team every minute of every day. That’s the way good coaches are, you can’t simply switch off from what might happen to the team tomorrow, next week or in an hour’s time. What he’s already achieved in the time he’s had with Liverpool is incredible
[Wagner is confident that Klopp will deliver more success at Liverpool] I hope that he goes one better this year and takes the Premier League title, even though we all know that that’s easier said than done. He and his lads will work incredibly hard for it, but that league is such a tight one. He’s really put on a show with them up until now though. I hope he wins the title with them this season

[Schalke manager David Wagner see his side thrash by Borussia Dortmund 4-0, though he admitted the match behind closed doors was ‘very, very strange] We didn’t play a good game, and at really bad moments we conceded the goals. At least two goals would have been easy to defend. Derby defeats are unpleasant in principle, even in this bizarre atmosphere. The feeling of the second half of the season is not there yet. The situation is quite extraordinary. I don’t think we had any major physical deficits. We had deficits in defending the right spaces. The speed advantage in the Dortmund game is also due to the situation. Every game is an opportunity to do it better
