The government that I lead will not be one of left or right because those old divisions don’t comprehend the political challenges of today. The government I lead will be one of the new European centre as we seek to build a republic of opportunity

[the sympathy of the Irish people over the loss of life in the fire at Grenfell Tower in west London] The UK has been through some terrible tragedies over the past few weeks so we offer them our sympathy and solidarity

[He also quoted Seamus Heaney’s The Republic of Conscience, saying] At their inauguration, public leaders/must swear to uphold unwritten law and weep/to atone for their presumption to hold office. We are helping him to get back to Ireland where he will be reunited with his family and hopefully he will get on with his life and get on with his studies. He spent far too long in a different prison but I am delighted that he is now out.I would as people to respect his family’s wishes for privacy
