[The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has accused TV producers of manipulating VAR images after Denis Cheryshev’s goal was allowed to stand in Valencia’s 1-0 win against Athletic Club on Saturday] Against the most elementary rules of the ethical sporting code and the rules of national and international competition, the producer of the match has put up images of a hypothetical offside line that doesn’t correspond to the [line] of VAR. These images [are] without any sort of technical rigour and offer a distorted view of the play. [It’s a] manoeuvre which creates a social alarm like a loss in confidence in the current VAR provider and in the skill of the Spanish referees.

The RFEF wants to make it clear that there can be no confusion and will raise the relevant complaint to international judicial and football organisations to analyse the situation and apply the corresponding measures. We are convinced that these irresponsible actions could lead to serious penalties. Therefore, we urge the LNFP [the Spanish football league] to articulate the necessary mechanisms to cease these types of activities so as not to damage and devalue the image of Spanish football

[Valencia confirm that 35 per cent of squad has tested positive for coronavirus] Several further tests for the Covid-19 coronavirus amongst Valencia CF coaching staff and players have come back positive. All cases are asymptomatic and those involved are currently isolated at home, receiving medical assessment and carrying out their scheduled training plan

Despite the strict measures adopted by the club after their UEFA Champions League game against Atalanta on February 19th in Milan - an area confirmed as ‘high risk’ by the Italian authorities days afterwards - which included maintaining a distance between the squad and club employees/the general public, these latest results show that the exposure inherent to such matches has caused a positive test rate of around 35%.

Valencia CF would like to take this opportunity to insist that the population stay in their homes and strictly follow previously published hygiene and infection prevention measures. We also wish to express our confidence in our healthcare system and the recommendations by the Ministry of Health for those cases of coronavirus infection being treated with isolation

[Valencia slam Atalanta coach Gasperini for attending Champions League game with coronavirus] Given the statements by Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini, which appeared in the Italian press this Sunday, Valencia CF wishes to publicly express its surprise at the fact that the coach of the opposing team in our UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie recognises that, both the day before and the day of the match played on March 10 in Mestalla he was aware of, at least himself, suffering from symptoms theoretically compatible with those of coronavirus without taking preventive measures, putting at risk, if that had been the case, numerous people during their trip to and stay in Valencia. It must be remembered that this game was held behind closed doors, amidst strict measures in this regard, on the orders of the Spanish health authorities to prevent the risk of contagion by Covid-19, precisely due to the presence of persons from an area already publicly classified as ‘at risk’ at that time
